Follow these simple steps to securely install your Mount2Ride Helmet Chin Mount and Safety Tether for optimal performance and safety.
Step 1: Test the Placement
Before attaching your Mount2Ride Helmet Chin Mount, use our product photos as a reference to determine the correct position on your helmet. Ensure the Chin Mount sits flush against the helmet’s surface.
For better alignment, we recommend attaching your action camera to the Chin Mount to get a clear idea of how it will sit once installed.
Step 2: Clean the Application Area
Take the provided alcohol wipe and clean the area where the Mount2Ride Helmet Chin Mount will be applied. Allow the alcohol to fully dry before proceeding to ensure proper adhesion.
Step 3: Apply the Chin Mount
- Peel the VHB adhesive backing from the Mount2Ride Helmet Chin Mount.
- Warm the adhesive with a blow dryer or heat gun for 5-10 seconds to make it slightly warm (not hot).
- Press firmly on the Chin Mount for a few minutes to ensure a strong bond.
Note: Small gaps may appear between the adhesive and the helmet due to improper placement or insufficient pressure during installation. If this happens:
- Heat the area gently with the blow dryer or heat gun on low heat.
- Apply firm pressure on the Chin Mount again.
- Repeat the process until the gap is gone.
If you don’t have a blow dryer or heat gun, we recommend allowing the Chin Mount to sit on your helmet for at least 72 hours instead of the usual 24 hours to ensure the adhesive bonds properly.
Step 4: Let the Adhesive Cure
For optimal results, allow the 3M adhesive to cure for a minimum of 24 hours (or 72 hours if no heat was applied). This is crucial for securing the Chin Mount firmly. Do not attach your action camera right away.
After 24 hours, test the Chin Mount by gently tapping it over a soft surface (like a bed or couch) with your camera attached. Make sure the Chin Mount stays securely in place during movement.
How to Install the Safety Tether
Step 1: Test the placement of your Safety Tether before removing the adhesive backing. We recommend attaching it to the side of your helmet for easy reach. Make sure the tether string will comfortably reach your GoPro.
Step 2: Once you’ve chosen the best position, peel the adhesive cover from the Safety Tether. Use a blow dryer or heat gun to slightly warm the adhesive, making it more tacky for a stronger bond.
Step 3: Stick the Safety Tether securely to the desired position on your helmet.
Step 4: Loop the tether string through the anchor point and attach it to your GoPro housing or thumb screw.
